The prices of dangerous goods transported by air can be roughly divided into two categories:
1. CAO - Cargo transport only - General freight rates are based on IATA published prices, or higher
2. PAX - Passenger and freight aircraft transportation - higher than regular freight, but lower than CAO prices.
To determine the air freight price of dangerous goods, the following information needs to be provided:
1. Scientific name of goods
2. Packaging materials
3. Volume/weight of single barrel (piece)
4. UN No.&Dangerous Goods Degree
5. Total weight/volume of goods
6. Packaging Group (divided into Packaging Group I, Packaging Group II, and Packaging Group III.)
7. Is the goods radioactive
Based on the above 7 items of information, it is possible to determine whether the goods are PAX or CAO based on DG Rules, in order to obtain the corresponding price. If it is temporarily impossible to confirm whether it is PAX or CAO due to incomplete information, the prices of PAX and CAO can be prepared at the same time. After the actual shipment is PAX, charges will be based on PAX or CAO prices.
Kind reminder
1. It is incorrect to determine whether the goods must be CAO or PAX based on the same UN No. If a single barrel of paint exceeds a fixed weight or a volume of 10 kilograms, it is CAO, otherwise it is PAX. Because the damage to the small box poses little threat to aircraft and people, the airline will agree to use passenger planes for transportation after the goods are packaged in the specified small packaging, and the freight rate will be cheaper.
2. If the cargo is radioactive, it is necessary to know in advance whether the airline will carry it.
